UNITY: How it works

UNITY: How it Works

This is what you need.

  • Latest version of Chrome Web Browser onto your Device (download here)
  • A Screen (projector screen, smartboard, monitor or TV)
  • A Device (computer, laptop, iPad)
  • A WiFi Connection
  • Speakers (these could part of your device or separate)
  • Necessary cables (HDMI, AUX, etc.)

*WIFI Strength: A strong wifi connection is a plus but not necessary. If your connection is strong enough to play a YouTube video, you’ll be able to play our Experiences without any trouble.

What does InterACTIVE Mean?

At various points throughout the experience, the on-screen instructor will invite the students to make a choice. It is up to you to quickly tally the votes for each option and submit the winning option into the system. If there is a count-down timer visible, when the time runs out, the interactive system will automatically proceed with the FIRST option.

Red light Green light

Although the The UNITY Experience is full of movement there are also many times throughout the experience when it is best for students to take a seat such as:

  • Receiving instructions
  • Learning about the history of a dance style
  • Self-Reflection Activities

The great news is that you don’t need to guess when it’s time to sit or dance! When it is time to sit and listen, you will see a Red Eye Icon in the top left corner of the screen.  When it’s time to dance, a Green Dancing Icon will appear!

The Elements of UNITY

Dance Instruction

There are many styles of dance included in the UNITY Dance Experience but the three main styles that we focus on are: African, Caribbean, and Latin. You can learn more about these three dance styles in the Dance Breakdown section of your Workshop here.

UNITY Activities

We have designed 4 main activities that truly embody the spirit of inclusion, communication, celebrating ones differences, and respect. You can find out more about these activities in the Activity Breakdown section of your Workshop here.

Self-Reflection

Each activity includes a thematically linked Self-Reflection question for the students to explore with their classmates.

Mission Time

Each activity concludes with a Mission or Call-to-Action for the students!

How to Schedule Your Classes
